Fellowship Program

In keeping with its educational mission, the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery offers a one-year fellowship for general, orthopaedic, or plastic surgeons who wish to gain greater expertise in hand and upper-extremity surgery.

This area provides information for potential fellows at CMKI. The links at the left should answer most of your questions about the fellowship program.

Sixteen fellowships are granted each year: 8 to US/Canadian surgeons and 8 to international surgeons.
Each fellowship lasts one year, with the majority of fellows starting in July or August.
Fellow applicants MUST have completed training in orthopaedics, plastic, or general surgery before starting the fellowship.
The Christine M. Kleinert Institute's fellowship program is affiliated with Kleinert Kutz and the University of Louisville Department of Surgery.
