Fellowship Program

 

In keeping with its educational mission, the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery offers a one-year fellowship for general, orthopaedic, or plastic surgeons who wish to gain greater expertise in hand and upper-extremity surgery.


 

This area provides information for potential fellows at CMKI. The links at the left should answer most of your questions about the fellowship program.

  • Sixteen fellowships are granted each year: 8 to US/Canadian surgeons and 8 to international surgeons.
  • Each fellowship lasts one year, with the majority of fellows starting in July or August.
  • Fellow applicants MUST have completed training in orthopaedics, plastic, or general surgery before starting the fellowship.
  • The Christine M. Kleinert Institute's fellowship program is affiliated with Kleinert Kutz and the University of Louisville Department of Surgery.
