Responsibilities of CMKI Fellows

Clinics

Staff average 2 days of clinics per week. Fellows see patients in the clinic before the staff and formulate a treatment plan. The staff then evaluates the patient and the fellow's treatment plan.

Surgery

Fellows assist in surgery with their staff.

Call

In general, the fellows take primary call with the staff with whom they are rotating. The clinical call duties of the Hand Surgery Service physicians include 24-hour coverage of Jewish Hospital, University of Louisville Hospital, and Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Teaching

While the staff give the majority of the lectures at morning conference, fellows are also expected to participate. Fellows are assigned formal presentations, as well as journal clubs, and case presentations.
